Computerworld names Palmetto Health to 2018 list of 100 Best Places to Work in IT

Posted on 7/9/2018

IDG’s Computerworld announces Palmetto Health as a 2018 Best Places to Work in IT, one of 100 top organizations that challenge their IT staffs while providing great benefits and compensation. Organizations will be included in coverage on Computerworld.com along with results from the 2018 Best Places to Work in IT survey.

“Information Technology is such an important part of any company, but in health care their work helps us provide the very best care for our patients—every day,” said Rich Rogers, chief information executive of SC Health Company. “This says so much for the positive environment that provides team members with the best opportunity to serve patients and each other. Congratulations to our entire team at the Midlands affiliate on this recognition.”

Some of the unique attributes of Palmetto Health’s IT department that helped earn Computerworld’s award include:

  • Each team member feels he or she is vital to achieving the Palmetto Health’s Vision: “To be remembered by each patient as providing the care and compassion we want for our families and ourselves.”
  • Realization that success can only be achieved in a collaborative environment welcoming creative ideas, thinking outside the box and supporting teamwork to embrace new partnerships, integration requirements and support models.
  • Palmetto Health’s One Palmetto initiative is focused on improving the patient experience while eliminating waste throughout the health care system and standardizing best practices, as a proactive response to national health care reform and ongoing reductions in reimbursement.
  • Recognition of outstanding team member performance through team meetings and messages on internal electronic bulletin boards, in team member forums, announcements and in thank-you notes leaders send to team members.
  • The compassion that is exhibited every day by team members to help each other get through the tough times professionally and personally as well as the friendship, love and caring that shows through every day.

“Over the past couple of years, we've seen an already tight market for tech talent get even tighter,” said Computerworld executive editor Ken Mingis. “Computerworld's 2018 Best Places to Work in IT list illustrates that the companies that offer the best working environments aren't satisfied with rolling out one or two initiatives. They seek an edge in the talent marketplace through a combination of good salaries, great benefits, ready access to training, and the deployment of cutting-edge technologies. They recognize that the top tech talent can easily move to the organization that respects them best, and they are determined to be that organization.”
