Palmetto Health is a founding member of the Diversity Recruitment Consortium (DRC), a collective group of organizations with the express purpose of implementing a model in which a fair picture of lifestyles in South Carolina is demonstrated through formalized initiatives and actions. Through collaboration, the DRC strives to communicate that South Carolina is a destination, not a pit stop. The Diversity Recruitment Consortium utilizes an Ambassador Network that provides access to a broad array of people with similar backgrounds, experiences and perspectives, offering robust and relevant information about South Carolina communities. Palmetto Health ambassadors are: Rob Brinkerhoff, Donna Brown, Todd Miller, Tiffany Sullivan, Dr. Cynthia Walters and Cheryl Watkins-Knowles.
In 2017, Palmetto Health and Greenville Health System announced an agreement to partner to create a new, not-for-profit, locally governed health company designed to shape and lead the future of health care for all South Carolinians. The affiliation aims to improve the patient experience, clinical quality and access to care, and address rising health care costs.
Health Sciences South Carolina brings together six of the state’s largest health systems and the state’s largest research-intensive universities in the name of research, health initiatives and economic development. While remaining independent, five health systems across the state of South Carolina have joined forces in a health collaborative to create efficiencies and synergies that mitigate the rising costs of health care. A collaboration of Greenville Health System, McLeod Health, MUSC Health, Palmetto Health and Self Regional Healthcare, Initiant enables its members to aggregate their efforts and expenditures to achieve savings, to explore deployment of clinical programs and services that will improve access to and quality of health care provided to patients, and to add value to its members, patients, and the communities it serves.
Palmetto Health and the University of South Carolina created the Palmetto Health-USC Medical Group, a not-for-profit company that brings together physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other health care providers from two of South Carolina’s most respected organizations — Palmetto Health and the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. The multispecialty, clinically integrated medical group is the Midlands region’s largest multispecialty medical group and the 11th largest employer in the Midlands.
The Palmetto Health Quality Collaborative is a regionally recognized clinically integrated system comprised of more than 1066 physicians and four hospitals to drive targeted improvements in health care quality and efficiency. Since its inception in 2010, the Quality Collaborative has been committed to increasing the quality of care patients receive by setting higher performance and quality expectations for participating physicians.
Palmetto Health is a member of Premier, Inc., a healthcare performance improvement alliance. With a network of approximately 3,400 U.S. hospitals and 110,000 other providers, the Premier alliance works to create actionable data, best practices and cost reduction strategies.
A national leader in primary care medical education, the University of South Carolina School of Medicine also sponsors research focused primarily on South Carolina health care needs and provides a wide range of clinical care services to South Carolinians.
