Perinatal Systems Educational Programs

Providing education for perinatal caregivers

The primary role of our outreach nurses at Prisma Health Richland Hospital Perinatal Systems is to provide education for perinatal caregivers. We offer courses based upon input from our annual needs assessment that we disseminate to each hospital in the Midlands region.

Our courses include:

  • Core neonatal competencies (NRP, STABLE)
  • Core OB competencies (basic through advanced fetal monitoring)
  • Recognition and management of complications
  • Stabilization for transport
  • Updates and reviews of standards of care

We also assist with clinical orientation for new or seasoned nursing staff and offer skill and competency reviews at region hospitals, emergency drills (mega codes, shoulder dystocia, placental abruption) and clinical preceptorships on Prisma Health Richland Hospital units. We are pleased to offer a variety of educational programs to serve the needs of perinatal staff in the Midlands region of South Carolina.
