Clinical Pastoral Education

Integrating theological and professional education for ministry in a clinical setting

At Prisma Health, we are an accredited training center through the Association of Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE) and offer both clinical pastoral education and supervisory CPE programs.

We offer the following Clinical Pastoral Education programs:

  • Summer internships
  • Full time residencies
  • Extended (or part-time) programs
  • Supervisor residencies

Our programs are open to recent seminary graduates, those in the midst of their theological education, ordained clergy of varied faith traditions and qualified lay people. Students in our programs will provide ministry to people in crisis, grief, and other situations involving suffering.

  • Serve as a chaplain in inpatient areas of the hospitals including oncology, psychiatry, cardiology, pediatrics, orthopaedics, urology, OB/GYN, labor and delivery, intensive care, medical-surgical, emergency and trauma departments.

Students will be closely supervised individually and in a group setting by certified CPE supervisors. The program is designed to help students learn to integrate behavioral science methodology with their own personal history and spirituality.
