We are building one organization with affiliates in two regions. Our parent company, now known as Prisma Health, supports both affiliates with overall direction and leadership as we continue to align. We will soon share one brand across the entire organization to better reflect this. The rebranded Palmetto Health-USC Medical Group will continue to operate as a joint venture between the Midlands affiliate and the USC School of Medicine.

Available benefits from Palmetto Health

We offer two medical plans to choose from. When team members choose either medical plan they are automatically enrolled in the Prescription Drug Program, which allows team members to obtain prescription drugs at retail pharmacies or through mail order with a co-payment. The two medical plans are:

  • Health Reimbursement Account Plan
  • Health Savings Account Plan

  • High-option (100% coverage for routine cleanings)
  • Low-option (100% coverage for routine cleanings)

Palmetto Health recognizes the importance of time away from work for leisure, rest and recreation. Paid Time Off (PTO) is provided so team members have personal time for vacation, holidays, short-term illness/injury and other situations such as family illness, funerals, and any other unexpected absences. Benefit-eligible team members accrue paid time off based on their number of years of service.

Palmetto Health Counseling at Baptist, Baptist Parkridge, Richland and Tuomey provides a team member assistance program called E-CARE so Palmetto Health team members and qualified family members can be intentional about seeking and practicing self-care. Family members qualify if they are covered under the team member's medical insurance through Palmetto Health.

Palmetto Health will reimburse, within institutional limits, tuition incurred by a regular full-time team member and a regular part-time team member (budgeted at least 24 hours per week) after 90 days of continuous employment provided the educational offering is related to Palmetto Health critical job needs, and meets the requirements for a degree. Support of tuition is subject to change based on Palmetto Health initiatives and/or budget constraints.

One of the biggest developments in healthcare in recent years is the introduction of the Health Savings Account (HSA). The HSA is a portable savings account used in combination with a qualified annual high deductible health plan to pay current medical expenses with tax-free dollars, or to save for future medical expenses. Palmetto Health's qualified high deductible health plan is the Smart Consumer Plan listed above. This means you are eligible to payroll deduct Health Savings Account (HSA) contributions and you receive contributions from Palmetto Health even if you elect not to contribute to the HSA.

Group life insurance and Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D)

Palmetto Health pays 100% for eligible team members' basic group life insurance and AD&D of one (1) times annual base pay.

Voluntary term life insurance

Eligible team members may purchase an additional one to eight times' annual base pay in term life insurance at group rates.

Voluntary dependent life insurance

Eligible team members may purchase voluntary dependent life insurance coverage of $25,000 for spouse & $10,000 for child(ren) on each eligible dependent for $2.11 cents a pay period.
