Earlier this month, on behalf of our nearly 11,000 team members, physicians and volunteers, Palmetto Health CEO Chuck Beaman accepted the 2014 Foster G. McGaw Prize for Excellence in Community Service in Washington, DC. The award, given by the American Hospital Association and the Baxter International Foundation, honors one hospital in the country that exemplifies caring in their community. We are honored to receive this recognition.
Since Palmetto Health was created in 1998, we have committed an annual tithe – 10 percent of our bottom line – to the community. To date, we have invested more than 50 million dollars to serve tens of thousands of people and to fund critically needed health care programs and services for the indigent, the uninsured and the medically underserved people in the Midlands.
