Palmetto Health’s Office of Community Health is offering free health screenings in April and May to help the community start good healthy habits this spring. The free screenings will be held Saturday, April 12 and 26, and Saturday, May 10, 7-10 a.m., at Palmetto Health Baptist, 1501 Sumter St., in the ground-floor auditorium. These screenings include PSA blood tests (for men who qualify based on age and risk), total cholesterol (including lipid profile), glucose, blood pressure, BMI and body fat. Fasting is required 12 hours prior to screening.
In the U.S., one in three deaths is related to heart disease and stroke, equal to 2,200 deaths per day. These conditions also are the leading causes of disability, preventing people from working and enjoying activities. Fighting back against chronic diseases starts by knowing your numbers for lipids, glucose, weight, BMI, blood pressure, cholesterol and more.
To register for a screening, call 803-296-CARE (2273). For more information or to view a complete list of Palmetto Health’s free health screening events, visit PalmettoHealth.org/CommunityHealth.
