FACTS: David Levine was born with a ventricular septal defect and had open heart surgery when he was just four months old. Today, Levine is a professional race car driver and road course specialist. He has won the pole at Road Atlanta, Road America, Sebring, Palm Beach International Raceway and Homestead-Miami Speedway.
In addition to his racing career, Levine currently is employed by The Richard Petty Driving Experience as a part-time driver/instructor and is a sophomore at Furman University in Greenville. He also launched a personal campaign to raise awareness about heart health among young adults—DriveForHeart.org.
Levine will arrive at Palmetto Health Children’s Hospital in his full racing uniform and will visit with children as he shares autographed racing photos and stories. “I am really honored to share my personal heart story, not only to raise awareness about congenital heart defects, but also to let my racing fans know just how important living a healthy lifestyle is at any age,” says Levine.
