Jeffery Martin, MD, graduated from the University of Georgia. He earned his Doctorate of Medicine at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, GA, and completed his internship and residency in general surgery at the Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, MA.  Dr. Martin completed a three-year residency in thoracic surgery at Duke University Medical Center before joining Carolina Cardiac Surgery Associates. He performed the first HeartMate II Left Ventricular Assist Device (LAVD) implant in Columbia, SC.

Patrick McCann, MD, earned his medical degree from Southern Illinois University School of Medicine and completed his residency in internal medicine at Saint Louis University Hospital. He also completed a clinical fellowship in cardiology at SLU Hospital and an advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology fellowship at the University of California, San Diego. Dr. McCann is board certified in cardiovascular disease and internal medicine. He is skilled in managing patients that require advanced therapies for heart failure, including left ventricular assist devices, biventricular assist devices and cardiac transplant.

Stephany Branham, NP, is a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She earned both her Bachelor's and Master's of Science in Nursing from the Medical University of South Carolina. She underwent training for Ventricular Assist Devices (VAD) at Duke University Medical Center and helped develop the VAD team here at Palmetto Health Heart Hospital.

Katherine Hilton, RN, attended the University of South Carolina where she graduated with honors with a Bachlor's of Science in Nursing. She started her nursing career in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) at Palmetto Health Heart Hospital. Before joining the VAD team, she was Assistant Nurse Manager in the CVICU. Katie has her adult critical care certification from the American Association of Critical Care Nurses. She is also certified in basic and advanced cardiac life support.
