
Curtis Worthington, M.D. Neurosurgeon is the Co-Medical Director for the Gamma Knife Center of the Carolinas. He earned his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina and completed his residencies at Montreal Neurological Institute, McGill University. He is a diplomate, American Board of Neurological Surgery.
Dr. Worthington has been performing stereotactic radiosurgery for over a decade and is a charter member of the International Stereotactic Radiosurgery Society. He is also a member of the world Society for Stereotactic and Functional Radiosurgery and the American Epilepsy Society. He is the author of more than 20 scientific publications, many on stereotactic radiosurgery. Dr. Worthington has been performing Gamma Knife Radiosurgery at The Gamma Knife Center of the Carolinas since its opening in 1998.
Burke Dial, M.D., Neurosurgeon, is the Co-Medical Director for The Gamma Knife Center of the Carolinas. He received his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina and completed his residencies at Montreal Neurological Hospital and Institute, Montreal Children’s Hospital and the Institute of Neurology at the University of London. He is a diplomate at the American Board of Neurosurgery since 1983.
Dr. Dial completed Principals and Practices of Gamma Knife Surgery at the Cromwell Hospital, Gamma Knife Centre in London and has been performing Gamma Knife Radiosurgery at the Gamma Knife Center of the Carolinas since 1999.

Brett Gunter, M.D., Neurosurgeon, received his medical degree from the University of Alabama and completed his Neurological Surgery residency at the University of Tennessee. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Neurological Surgery. Dr. Gunter participated in Gamma Knife procedures during his residency and completed Principals and Practices of Gamma Knife Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic in October, 1999. He has been performing Gamma Knife Radiosurgery at the Gamma Knife Center of the Carolinas since 2000.

Artur Pacult M.D., Neurosurgeon, graduated from Copernicus Academy of Medicine in Krakow, Poland receiving his medical degree in 1979. He completed 1 year of Spinal Cord Injury research, then completed his general surgery internship and Neurosurgery residency at the Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston, SC. Dr. Pacult joined the Neurology-Neurosurgery Clinic in Charleston, SC in 1988. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Neurosurgery since 1991. He completed Principals and Practices of Gamma Knife Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Neurosurgery Department, Pittsburgh, PA. and has been performing Gamma Knife Radiosurgery at the Gamma Knife Center of the Carolinas since 2000.

James Brennan, M.D., Neurosurgeon, graduated from Manhattan College in 1989. He received his medical doctorate from Albany Medical College in Albany, New York. He completed a general surgery internship and Neurosurgery residency at the University of Oklahoma. He also completed a Fellowship in Spine Surgery at Washington University, School of Medicine in St. Louis and joined Florence Neurosurgery and Spine in July 2000. He completed Principals and Practices of Gamma Knife Surgery at the Cromwell Hospital, Gamma Knife Centre in London.
Jim Boulware, M.D. Radiation Oncologist, is the Director of Radiation Oncology at the SC Cancer Center, Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital, Columbia, SC. He earned his medical degree from Case Western Reserve in Cleveland, Ohio and completed his residencies at Emory/Grady, Atlanta, GA., and Anderson Hospital, Houston, TX. He is a diplomate, American Board of Radiology. Dr. Boulware is Clinical Associate Professor of Radiology and Pediatrics at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine and principal investigator for RTOG research protocols at the SC Cancer Center, Palmetto Richland Memorial. He completed Principals and Practices of Gamma Knife Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Neurosurgery Department and has been performing Gamma Knife Radiosurgery at The Gamma Knife Center of the Carolinas since its opening in 1998.

Bill Neglia, M.D., Radiation Oncologist, received his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia, Augusta GA and completed his residency at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Houston TX., where he won an award in 1977 for best cancer research done by residents and fellows. Dr. Neglia is a Clinical Associate Professor in the departments of Radiology and Pediatrics at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, Columbia, SC and diplomate, American Board of Radiology. Dr. Neglia completed Principals and Practices of Gamma Knife Surgery at The University of Pittsburgh Neurosurgery Department and has been performing Gamma Knife Radiosurgery at The Gamma Knife Center of the Carolinas since its opening in 1998. His special interests include CNS tumors, pediatric oncology, breast and prostate cancers, and IMRT (Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy). He is the author and co-author of multiple publications in the medical literature.
John Gibbons, Ph.D., Medical Physicist, is chief physicist, Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital. He earned his doctorate degree from the University of Tennessee and completed his residency at the University of Minnesota Hospitals. While with the University of Minnesota, Dr. Gibbons participated in the Development of its radiosurgery program. He is Clinical Assistant Professor of Radiology, University of South Carolina School of Medicine, Columbia, SC and diplomate, American Board of Radiology and American Board of Medical Physics. He is the author of more than 60 scientific publications.
Mary Lewis, MS., Medical Physicist at Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital, Columbia, SC.
With over twenty years in the field of Medical Physics, Mary Lewis brings a broad range of experience to the Gamma Knife Team. She is author or co-author of several scientific publications and has been a member of the Gamma Knife Team since 2002.
