Join our Richie Raccoon Birthday Club!

It’s easy to make your birthday party an event that benefits children who are patients at Children’s Hospital. Most children receive so many gifts throughout the year on holidays and special occasions, that they often have more than they can appreciate and enjoy. The Richie Raccoon Birthday Club teaches children about philanthropy and the joy of helping others. Instead of bringing traditional gifts for the birthday child, party guests bring contributions for Children’s Hospital.

Joining the Richie Raccoon Birthday Club is fun and easy!
Here’s how to get started:

  1. Select a date for your party.
  2. Decide if you prefer to use your own invitations or if you would like us to provide Richie Raccoon Birthday Club invitations.
  3. Contact Children’s Hospital at (803) 434-2827 to request your free Birthday Club host packet. The packet contains guidelines, donation envelopes, party ideas and everything you need to plan your event.

You may decide to throw a theme party such as a glow-in-the-dark bowling party, a luau, skating party or a slumber party. What makes a Richie Raccoon Birthday Club party so special is that you and your friends and family get to help bring smiles and laughter to children at Children’s Hospital.

Long after traditional party gifts are forgotten, contributions to Children’s Hospital continue to brighten the lives of children.

Questions You May Have

Should I request that guests make monetary contributions, or are specific items preferred?

Monetary contributions are preferred for a number of reasons. Monetary contributions offer the most flexibility and can help fund equipment, programs and supplies needed by the staff. Storage space at Children’s Hospital is limited, making monetary contributions the best choice and the easiest choice for your guests. Instead of shopping for a toy, they can write a tax-deductible check and know that the gift will benefit children. Checks should be made payable to Palmetto Health Foundation.

Do I need to use the Richie Raccoon Birthday Club invitations, or can I design my own?

You may prefer to use your own invitations to go with a particular theme. Many families choose to do that. To let guests know that your party will benefit Children’s Hospital, please include the following information as part of your invitation:

Instead of birthday gifts, we ask that you consider a donation to Palmetto Health Children’s Hospital. Your gift will help more than 82,000 children who are treated there each year. For more information about Children’s Hospital, visit www.childrenshospital.palmettohealth.com or call (803) 296-KIDS.

How should guests make their checks payable?

They may make their checks payable to Palmetto Health Foundation and include the Richie Raccoon Birthday Club on the MEMO line.

After the party, where do I send the contributions?

Monetary contributions can be mailed to the Palmetto Health Foundation, ATTN: Richie Raccoon Birthday Club, 9 Richland Medical Park, Suite 600, Columbia, SC 29203. To make arrangements to deliver donations, please call (803) 434-2827 or 434-7275.
