Daddy's Little Girl

If you're the father of an adolescent daughter, you probably know that communication can sometimes be difficult. Chances are, your little girl will form opinions as she grows older that the two of you won't see eye-to-eye on. Show your daughter how cool you can be with these tips, given by Diane Bagnal Moody of Palmetto Health Children's Hospital:

• When you and your daughter disagree, you are helping her learn to negotiate. Negotiation is a personal skill she will not learn if you continually give in to her demands.
• If you have more than one child, remember that each child has a unique personality with individual needs. The way you handle a situation with one child should not determine how you handle situations with your other children.
• Avoid falling into a pattern of being too doting or too distant toward your daughter.
