Clinical Trials

The team handles the financial and contractual issues involved with sponsored clinical trials to ensure compliance. We work with all areas of hospital administration and hospital staff to provide quality study implementation and clean, accurate data submission. The Clinical Research division has expertise on necessary procedures to implement the study and work with sponsors to properly budget expenses.

Our association with the University of South Carolina School of Medicine means that much of our investigator base consists of physicians who have clinical research experience. Along with the medical school faculty, we have a close association with physicians in private practice and hospitalists. Our clinical research professionals have many years of experience with clinical trials and have varied healthcare backgrounds providing a wide range of research interests.

Continuing Medical Education

Palmetto Health hospitals offer Continuing Medical Education programs on each of its Columbia campuses. The University of South Carolina School of Medicine – Palmetto Health Richland Continuing Medical Education Organization is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education. The program at Palmetto Health Baptist is accredited by the South Carolina Medical Society.

Josey Health Science Library

Medical staff members have access to the Josey Health Sciences Library located on the Palmetto Health Richland campus, 5 Medical Park, 6th Floor East. The Library's collection includes approximately 3,000 books, 400 journals and various electronic resources, including:

• Electronic Journals (A to Z access to full text electronic journals, now including the New England Journal of Medicine)
• JHSL Online Catalog (Search for items in our physical collection)
• Research Databases (Access hundreds of additional full text electronic journals)
• Evidence-based Electronic Resources (such as Up-to-Date, MDConsult, Procedures Consult, etc.)
