What makes us special?

At the Palmetto Health Breast Center, our dedication to improving women's health has earned us the status of Breast Imaging Center of Excellence, awarded by the American College of Radiology (ACR). The ACR determined that we have achieved high standards in image quality, personnel, equipment, and quality assurance programs. The National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers has granted Palmetto Health Breast Center full accreditation, making it the first fully accredited breast center in the South Carolina! The program, administered by the American College of Surgeons, awarded the Breast Center a three-year, full accreditation in July 2009. Accreditation by the program ensures that patients will have access to:

• Comprehensive care, including a full range of services
• A multidisciplinary, team approach to coordination of the best treatment options
• Information about ongoing clinical trials and new treatment options
• Quality breast care close to home

Breast Conferences

Each week, teams of breast health specialists meet to evaluate all newly diagnosed patients. You receive the benefit of this team approach as surgeons, oncologists, breast imaging specialists, and others combine their years of education and experience to plan your course of treatment.

Nurse Navigators

From the moment of your diagnosis, you will have individual support from a Breast Cancer Nurse Navigator. This patient educator coordinates your care, helps you navigate the health care system, and supports you and your family throughout your cancer experience.
