Postpartum Emotions

Mother and newborn baby Pregnancy and birth bring about many changes in a woman's body. These changes are both physical and emotional and are quite complex. Often after delivery, women experience alterations in their mood that may range from very mild to severe negative emotional feelings. It is important to be aware of these changing emotions, know how to cope with them, and what resources are available to help.

Palmetto Health Behavioral Care provides a useful brochure about postpartum emotions, along with a symptoms checklist. Please contact your health professional immediately if you have any of these symptoms.
