Commitment to Quality
Through our physicians and staff, Palmetto Health and its legacy hospitals have been capably and admirably diagnosing, treating and comforting thousands of patients and families annually for more than a century. Six years ago, Palmetto Health embarked on an ambitious and concerted quality goal of eliminating all preventable errors and deaths, and set about creating the structure, culture and accountability to achieve it.
Every day millions of Americans receive first-rate health care that restores and maintains health. Doctors, nurses and other health care workers are dedicated to keeping patients safe and healthy. Despite their dedication, errors can occur in any health delivery setting — hospital, clinics, doctors' offices, nursing homes, pharmacies, and even in your own home. The commitment of Palmetto Health's team to preventing errors, finding safer ways to provide care, to report failures, and to learn and use best practices is incorporated into the culture and intentions of our health system.
This commitment is firm; the process is a journey and the progress toward that goal is presented openly within our hospital walls and publicly here. We welcome you to evaluate our reporting.
