Medical Laboratory Technician Program

Palmetto Health Richland participates as a clinical site for two programs that prepare graduates for a rewarding career in laboratory medicine. One program leads to a BS degree in Medical Technology and the other to an AS degree in Medical Laboratory Technology.

Clinical Site for Medical Laboratory Technician Program

Palmetto Health Richland is also a clinical site for students in the Medical Laboratory Technology program at Midlands Technical College. Upon completion of this program students receive an Associate Degree from Midlands Technical College.

The didactic lectures and introductory labs are given at the Airport Campus. Students then participate in clinical rotations at Palmetto Health Richland and several other hospital sites throughout the state.

The MLT program is accredited by National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences. Upon completion of the program students are eligible to take the certification examination of the Board of Registry for Medical Laboratory Technicians (MLT) of the American Society of Clinical Pathology, and the Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT) examination of the National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel.
