CMS (Hospital Compare)
Hospital Compare was created through the efforts of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the Department of Health and Human Services, and other members of the Hospital Quality Alliance (HQA). The information on its website includes data on Medicare patients and comes from hospitals that have agreed to submit quality information for Hospital Compare to make public. Palmetto Health hospitals participate in Hospital Compare data collection.
On the website, you will find information on how well Palmetto Health and other hospitals compare patients with certain procedures such as medical conditions like heart attack and pneumonia, and surgical procedures like heart bypass surgery and operations such as hip and knee replacement.
This information is published to help you compare the quality of care hospitals provide.
CMS recently notified Palmetto Health that our three hospitals received award payments for outstanding quality performance under the CMS/Premier Hospital Quality Incentive Demonstration program. Each of our hospitals were rewarded for top performance in ACM scores for year four of the demonstration project. More than 200 hospitals across the US participate and collectively they shared in $12 million in incentive payments. Palmetto Health hospitals continue to make improvements and our patients are the beneficiaries of the quality efforts of our teams.
