Orthopaedic traumatology is an emerging subspecialty incorporating new skills and technology that were never before utilized by orthopaedic surgeons. Our orthopaedic traumatologists have the specialized expertise to manage and treat poly-traumatic injuries. Patients who have suffered multiple fractures, soft tissue injuries, skin wounds and injuries to other organs present a unique set of challenges. With the support of the level one trauma center at Palmetto Health Richland, they handle complex trauma cases where they must anticipate and prevent possible complications.
