Cribs for Kids

Cribs for Kids® of the Midlands

Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) is the sudden death of an infant under one year of age, which remains unexplained after a thorough investigation including: performance of a complete autopsy; examination of the death scene and review of the clinical history (National SUIDS/SIDS Resource Center). SIDS is the third leading cause of death in South Carolina for infants zero to one year of age and the leading cause of death in infants greater than one month to one year of age.

Cribs for Kids® of the Midlands began in 2009 as an effort to increase the public's awareness of the dangers of unsafe sleep practices in infants throughout our 16-county perinatal region. We provide a standardized educational message and distribute a safety-approved Graco Pack-N-Play® to income eligible families. Our main goal is to increase awareness of the dangers of unsafe sleeping for infants while giving professionals, parents, educators and the community educational tools with a standardized consistent safe sleep message.
