What you need to know after you obtain a research study (Post-Award Process):

After you have completed the pre-award portion of your study, you may have some questions about what takes place after your research contract has been executed or your research grant has been awarded.

Question: How am I and / or my organization paid for the research that I / we perform? Is your research a clinical trial sponsored by a commercial sponsor? Yes    No

Question: How are checks for payment of research handled?
Is your research a clinical trial? Yes  No

Question: How are above standard of care charges handled?

1) Submit a Research Registration Form to Palmetto Health Admissions. This form ensures that the patient is registered prior to their procedure and ensures that the patient will not be billed for the research charges.

2) After the research procedure, the research staff should e-mail a Request for Research Billing to Deirdre Drake in Research Administration within 48 hours of the procedure.

What is a Confidential Disclosure Agreement?

A confidential Disclosure Agreement (or CDA) allows the pharmaceutical company (or sponsor) to release the research protocol to you in order for you to determine your interest in the trial.

What is a Clinical Trial Agreement?

The Clinical Trial Agreement (or CTA) is negotiated with the sponsor to ensure you, your institution (if other than Palmetto Health), Palmetto Health, and the subjects are properly protected. The Clinical Trials Manager negotiates the trial budget.

ClinicalTrials.gov is a registry of federally and privately supported clinical trials conducted in the United States and around the world. Clinical Trials.gov gives you information about a trial's purpose, who may participate, locations, and phone numbers.
