Rehabilitative Services Our Rehabilitative Services (physical and occupational therapy and speech-language pathology) provides both inpatient and outpatient care. Our comprehensive program offers services to individuals who have a variety of diagnoses including orthopedic, musculoskeletal, neurological, and cardiac diseases and injuries, arthritis, amputation, as well as any other illness affecting functional ability.
Inpatient Rehabilitative Services The inpatient rehabilitative service of Palmetto Health Richland hospital provides those in need, as a result of an illness or injury, comprehensive treatment services to improve functional abilities and quality of life. The Rehabilitative Service's goal is to provide extraordinary care with equipment and programs designed to meet our community's needs in a compassionate, cost effective manner. Our goal is to maximize independence in self-care, facilitate adjustment to disability and return to home, community and work, and enable individuals to live at the highest degree of social and physical independence. Clinical activities include medical care, ambulation and gait training, transfers, bed and wheelchair mobility, activities of daily living training, feeding and swallowing training, upper and lower body strengthening, perceptual and cognitive evaluation and treatment, patient and family education, evaluation and treatment of communication problems and discharge planning.
Outpatient Rehabilitative Services At the Rehab Centers, occupational and physical therapists, speech-language pathologists and certified athletic trainers work together as a team to restore mobility and function depleted by musculoskeletal injuries and neurological disorders and together we develop comprehensive rehab programs for helping people regain control of their lives — medically, socially and emotionally. Following an initial assessment, an individualized rehabilitation program is developed for each client. This includes a common understanding of goals to be achieved in reaching an individual’s maximum potential. Pediatric Developmental Rehab
The Rehab Centers’ developmental rehabilitation program provides a multidisciplinary approach for the optimal development of infants and toddlers to meet their suspected or identified developmental delay or disability. In all instances, specific strategies to enhance cognitive, physical, language and social progress are carefully developed in concert with the family. Children who have experienced a debilitating injury or neurological illness are often in need of special rehabilitation services. The Rehab Center has skilled physical, occupational, and speech-language therapy staff that specialize in the treatment of children.
