Cardiac Services-Baptist
Cardiac Catheterization Lab
The Cardiac Catheterization (Cardiac Cath) Lab, located on the second floor at Palmetto Health Baptist, uses state of the art technology to obtain cardiac images unsurpassed anywhere in the country. We offer inpatient and outpatient services including:
- Diagnostic cardiac catheterization
- Pacemaker implantation
- Transesophogeal echocardiogram (TEE is a study performed with an ultrasound probe inside a patient's esophagus to visualize cardiac structures. The heart's valves, walls and chambers can be evaluated to determine the presence of intracardiac masses or clots.)
- Tilt table testing (a test performed to determine the causes of fainting)
- Cardioversion (a procedure perfromed to correct irregular heart rhythms)
- Pericardiocentesis (a procedure performed to drain excess fluid from the sack surrounding the heart)

Quality and safety are important to us, so our entire Cath Lab staff is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support. Our Cardiac Cath Lab is a fine example of how Palmetto Health Baptist combines the latest medical technology with compassion to provide the highest quality in patient care.
EKG/EEG Department
The EKG/ EEG Department offers inpatient and outpatient services including:
- EKG (electrocardiogram-a study of the electrical activity of the heart)
- EEG (a study of the electrical activity of the brain)
- Holter Monitoring (a study of the electrical activity of the heart obtained via a small recording device worn by a patient for a period of time)
- Stress Testing (a study to determine the presence of coronary artery disease)
- King of Hearts Monitoring
Our state-of-the-art EKG technology enables physicians to compare a patient's prior EKGs to their current EKG, allowing for the best information about cardiac changes and heart health. The digital Holter monitors we use can be read far more quickly than older analog Holter monitors, which gives physicians rapid access to their patient's cardiac information.
