Festivals Throughout the Midlands Encourage Healthy Families
Palmetto Healthy Start invites families to attend one of its free family health festivals. The festivals celebrate children and families through games, music, food and activities for all ages. Free health screenings will be provided and health and safety information booths will be available. Festivals will be held at the following dates and locations:
• Saturday, May 17: North Hope Center, Sumter, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
• Saturday, June 14: Granby Gardens Park, Cayce, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Palmetto Healthy Start is part of the National Healthy Start Association and is operated through a federally funded grant received by Palmetto Health. Its mission is to reduce infant mortality, the number of low birth-weight babies and other health disparities in Richland, Fairfield, Lexington and Sumter counties through education and outreach.
No registration is required. Participants are encouraged to bring blankets, chairs and tents. Free transportation will be provided to Healthy Start participants.
