Palmetto Health sponsors a free breakfast and screening event for men
EVENT: “Real Men Get Real On Health”
WHEN: Saturday, June 8
TIME: 7-10:15 a.m.
(Free screenings will start at 7 a.m. followed by a breakfast presentation at 9 a.m.)
PLACE: Palmetto Health Baptist, 1501 Sumter St., ground-floor auditorium
ABOUT: Palmetto Health is sponsoring a free breakfast and screening event just for men, “Real Men Get Real on Health.” From 7-9 a.m., those who qualify can receive free screenings for diabetes, cholesterol, blood pressure, BMI and body fat.
During breakfast, which begins at 9 a.m., health professionals will discuss a variety of men’s health issues, such as heart disease, cancer, stroke and diabetes. There also will be questions taken from the audience.
This free event is part of Palmetto Health’s community health event series. The Office of Community Health offers a series of health care initiatives to uninsured and underserved people in Richland, Lexington and Fairfield counties. In addition to other efforts, services include free cancer, diabetes screenings and diabetes prevention classes. Palmetto Healthy Start also offers free classes on pregnancy, childbirth and infant care.
Additional screenings are available June 5 and 6 from 7-10:15 a.m. at Palmetto Health Baptist, 1501 Sumter St., ground level classrooms D and E. For more information or to register, call 803-296-CARE (2273).
