1,700 first-graders expected to tour the hospital
EVENT: Midlands first-graders get a hands-on learning experience in a unique “mini hospital” setting at the new state-of-the-art Palmetto Health Children’s Hospital. The tour explores the hospital from a child’s point of view and provides an environment conducive to learning. The event is part of an international public awareness campaign designed to help children and the community learn more about the healthcare needs of children and their families. This event has been so well received in the Midlands that Palmetto Health Children’s Hospital’s Child Life department sponsors the event in the Fall & Spring to include as many first-graders as possible.
Hands-on learning stations staffed by professionals from Palmetto Health Children’s Hospital and Richland County EMS include ambulance tours, surgery station, lab station, poison control station, x-ray station, physical therapy station and emergency department and patient room tours.
WHEN: Sept. 24–27
TIME: 9 a.m.–1 p.m.
