Atrium Ridge Internal Medicine is a Patient-Centered Medical Home

Atrium Ridge Internal Medicine Receives Level 3 Recognition as A Patient-Centered Medical Home

Atrium Ridge Internal Medicine, a Palmetto Health physician practice located in Northeast Columbia, has achieved Level 3 Recognition as a Patient-Centered Medical Home from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). NCQA measures healthcare quality improvement among physicians who deliver superior care using standards firmly rooted in medical evidence. To date, nearly 10,000 physicians nationwide have been recognized by NCQA in the areas of diabetes care, cardiovascular care, back pain care and practices that systematically provide preventive and chronic care.

Atrium Ridge Internal Medicine physicians include Gary Bell, M.D. and Kellé Rouse, M.D. and is located at 11 Atrium Ridge Ct. in Columbia. The practice is part of the Palmetto Health Physician Practice Network, comprised of more than 35 primary care and multi-specialty practices, and is part of the largest health care system in the region.

Dr. Greta Harper, Palmetto Health’s vice president of Medical Affairs, said, “The physicians and staff at Atrium Ridge Internal Medicine are proud of the level of care they are able to provide to patients and their families. We believe excellent patient care should not only address a patient’s physical ailment, but that the emotional and social needs of the patient are met as well.” Harper added, “Receiving this accreditation has reinforced our belief that we are doing the right thing for our patients. We have worked with Blue Cross Blue Shield throughout this accreditation process and have been able to learn from best practices across the country. Having a partner like Blue Cross Blue Shield has allowed us to achieve this accreditation very quickly.”

Bell also is proud of the recognition. He said, “The patient-centered medical home is a model of care that holds significant promise for better healthcare quality, increased involvement of patients in their own care and reduced avoidable costs over time. It helps physicians put the patient at the center of all that we do.”
