Research has been defined in a number of different ways, as well. The Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary best defines research in the context of what Palmetto Health's Mobility and Research Clinic does.
"a studious inquiry or examination; especially: investigation or experimentation aimed at the discovery and interpretation of facts, revision of accepted theories or laws in the light of new facts, or practical application of such new or revised theories or laws."
The clinicians at the Mobility Research Clinic use collected data, studied results, and analyzed information to bring positive results to the patient's lack of ability to move a body part, walk normally and travel painlessly from one place to another. In light of new facts, the typical physical therapy may be revised to best employ the more practical application of the revised theories.
Each of the Ph.D. Physical Therapists has continued training to become board certified specialists in areas of advanced physical therapy techniques. The treatment techniques they employ are based on published research, out-come based therapeutic interventions and techniques that are on the horizon and being found to have amazing results. These physical therapy specialists give individual attention during each session. By working one-on-one, the patient receives treatment designed specifically for their physical limitations and areas of pain, etc.
A questionnaire will be filled out at a patient's first appointment that will help track the outcome of treatments. The result of these processes allows objective measurements of a patient's progress during therapy and the ability to implement the most effective therapies for a patient to reach maximum rehabilitation potential.
