Palmetto Health Baptist Hospitalists

A hospitalist is a physician who specializes in caring for adult patients while they are in the hospital. These physicians do not have an outpatient practice, but devote their time to caring for hospitalized patients. Hospitalists enable your Primary Care Physician to focus on your outpatient care.
Patients are referred from community primary care physicians, emergency room physicians, and other physicians in the hospital.
All of the physicians with Baptist Inpatient Medical Associates (BIMA) are board certified in Internal Medicine.

Your treatment will be directed by the Hospitalist while you are in the hospital. The BIMA Hospitalists will notify your Primary Care Physician of your admission and obtain any necessary medical information. We will notify your doctor of your discharge with details of your hospitalization and any discharge needs that you may have. If you do not have a regular physician, the Case Management staff can assist you. You may also call CareCall, 296-CARE (2273), and they will give you a list of physicians in our community who are accepting new patients.
